PROFHILO BODY

The injectable treatment with the specific intended use to treat skin laxity on the body.

PROFHILO® IS AN INJECTABLE SKIN REMODELLING TREATMENT containing one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) on the market, especially formulated for people whose skin lacks volume and elasticity.

Rather than just plumping and filling wrinkles, the slow release of HA by Profhilo stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, in turn improving skin tone, hydration and the appearance of fine lines. The result is improved skin quality lasting for up to 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is an injectable anti-ageing treatment made from hyaluronic acid for skin that is losing its elasticity and firmness with age. It can be used on the face, neck, decollete, arms, hands and knees, or any part of your body where the skin shows visible signs of ageing. There is an immediately noticeable improvement in skin tone, hydration as well as firmness, and lines are minimized.
How does Profhilo work?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance produced in our body, found in skin, joints and other connective tissue. Its role is to retain moisture in the body and aid collagen production. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water which makes it ideal for binding moisture in the skin. With age, however, hyaluronic acid production slows and the skin looks duller and dehydrated, with fine lines and wrinkles forming.

Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of stabilised hyaluronic acid on the market. Because it is thermally bonded and not chemically bonded it acts as a hydrator not a filler. It is injected just underneath the surface of the skin where it disperses quickly and reacts with your own tissue to instantly boost hydration. Over the next four weeks phase two kick in as it goes to work boosting elastin and collagen production. This effectively remodels the skin and giving it a plumper, smoother and firmer appearance.

Due to its gel like consistency Profhilo distributes smoothly and evenly without the formation of any lumps – a potential risk with traditional fillers. This means it can be used on areas which are difficult to treat with traditional fillers, such as the neck and forehead.

What does Profhilo treatment involve?
Profhilo is injected just below the skin’s surface over 2 sessions 4 weeks apart. After injection it disperses quickly beneath the skin to improve hydration, without any need for massage or risk of leaving lumps or nodules. Profhilo is absorbed within a 2cm radius of its injection site, so to treat the face only 10 injection points are needed in total. It is relativley painless and there is usually no need for topical pain relief creams prior to treatment. The treatment itself is very quick, taking only about 10 minutes.
What are the Benefits of Profhilo?
Treatment with Profhilo improves skin tone, texture, hydration and overall radiance.  It can help to increase firmness and elasticity and promote healthier and softer-looking skin. Profhilo is most commonly used for facial areas, but can also be used to rejuvenating the neck, decollete, arms, knees and hands. We start losing a significant amount of collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid after we reach 30, which means we start to see the signs of ageing in the form of fine lines, wrinkles and slightly lack-lustre skin, therefore Profhilo® is advised for individuals from around the age of 30 upwards, who wish to target ageing skin.

What results can I expect from Profhilo?
After just a single course of Profhilo, which involves 2 injectable treatments 4 weeks apart, you can expect to see an intense hydration. It makes the skin glow and fine lines can disappear. You’ll notice smoother, tighter skin. Even for those with very wrinkled skin, an improvement in the texture is undeniable. The treatment can be repeated after six months in cases where more repair is desired.
How many treatments will I need?
To achieve the best long-lasting results, 2 treatments are recommended with a 4 week interval. Some people may see the results within first week, but the best outcomes of the treatment will be visible 4 weeks after the second treatment.
How long does Profhilo® last?
The results from Profhilo treatments will most often last for up to six months, but results can differ from person to person.
Are there any side effects?
Hyaluronic acid is very well tolerated by the skin. You may experience bruising and mild swelling at the injection sites, which will settle within a very short period of time.  If the area is red and raised at the injection site this will subside within 4 hours, there may also be some itching and tenderness at the treated area, but this will settle down very quickly and should not be visible after 24hours.

Profhilo is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or people who are allergic to Hyaluronic Acid.

Is there any downtime?
There is no downtime.  It is advisable to avoid alcohol, aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication in the 24 hours before treatment.

Immediately after treatment you should avoid wearing make-up, and give sports, swimming and any other strenuous physical activity a miss for 24 hours.  It is also best to avoid saunas and steam rooms for a few days after treatment. You should also avoid intense sun or UV light exposure for the first few days after treatment. We also recommend that you do not go to the gym, sauna, steam-room or go swimming on the same day as treatment. You should also avoid touching the injection site.

What is the difference between Profhilo® and Dermal Fillers?
Due to the way that Profhilo® is formulated, it is not a volumising treatment in the same way that dermal fillers are, and is not used to enhance specific areas of the face (e.g. lips, cheeks, chin).  Profhilo is primarily a hydrating treatment, and the Hyaluronic Acid it contains is dispersed evenly throughout the face, giving your skin a more plump and firm look overall.
How much does it cost?
