Aqualyx

Fat Dissolving Injections

At Hereford’s Premier Aesthetic Clinic

Aqualyx could possibly just be the fat melting procedure that the world has been waiting for.  Approved by the FDA and EEA, this advanced new non-surgical procedure can be used in the face and body to great effect, removing unwanted fat in areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Aqualyx is ideal for those who who exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet but have stubborn pockets of fat that won’t shift.  We must make it very clear that Aqualyx is not a substitute for diet and exercise and cannot fix you if you are overweight.  It is for stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.  So a perfect Aqualyx patient might be a young mother who has been left with an area of fat in her abdomen that cannot be fixed by all the exercise in the world.  Or a patient who has ‘muffin tops’ on an otherwise slender frame.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Aqualyx?

Aqualyx®, developed for the non-surgical reduction of localised fat under the skin is a gel-based watery solution, which dissolves fat and is biocompatible (compatible with all parts of the body) and biodegradable (able to break down naturally and cause no harm). Aqualyx® works by causing the breakdown of fat cells. The body then expels the released fatty acids naturally.

What areas can be treated?
Aqualyx® can be used on the following areas: Chin/Jowls Stomach Waist Love handles Saddlebags Thighs/inner thighs Knees Below buttocks Hips Under armpits/back Under-bra area Gynocomastia in men
What can I expect during treatment?
After a pre-treatment consultation your nurse prescriber will mark out the area of concern. Aqualyx® is mixed with Lidocaine (anaesthetic) before injection for greater comfort. Aqualyx is injected via injection sites into the fat layer using a thin very fine needle. The elastic needles allow small areas to be tackled effectively such as double chin or jowls. Treatment can take between 30-60 minutes per treatment.
Will it Hurt?
Treatments may be a little uncomfortable however the solution contains an anaesthetic to help ease any discomfort. Patients describe the discomfort as a dull ache. This can be managed with pain killer such as paracetamol as directed.
How Many Treatments Would I Need?
A reduction in fat deposits can be seen after just one treatment, however between three and eight sessions are recommended to achieve desired results.
How long will it take to see results?
A reduction in fat in the targeted area can be noted a number of weeks post-treatment. The speed at which noticeable results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes; younger clients are more likely to see results after a longer period. In very small fat pads, the desired results can already be seen after one treatment.
How long will it last?
Destroying the fat cells is a long-term solution provided you retain a stable weight, eat healthily and continue exercise as usual. Aqualyx® leads to a permanent reduction of fatty tissue; once removed, fat cells will not reappear. The fat cells that are left behind can become engorged and enlarged to compensate if diet and exercise levels are not maintained.
Are there any Side effects?
All risks and side effects will be discussed with you at consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed. As Aqualyx® is a non-surgical solution it means no downtime and no general Anaesthetic risks. As there are no incisions, stitches are not required and scarring is very unlikely. There are some temporary side effects, which include bruising, swelling, redness and irritation in the injection area. Sometimes it may feel a slightly tender to touch, numb or itchy but these side effects usually reside after 1-3 days.
