Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Introduction to Botox® at Sapphire Aesthetics in Hereford

Botulinum toxin, botox, has been used in hospitals around the UK since 1977 and within the cosmetic surgery industry for over 20 years. It is used in 70 countries and is used on over 4 million patients in the USA alone, every year. For botox in Hereford please call us on 01432 870717.

Wrinkles can be identified in two ways: expressive or static. Expressive lines are, as the term suggests, those which are evident when expressing emotion. Static lines are those which remain evident even when the face is relaxed.

ASK ABOUT OUR MONTHLY SAVINGS PLAN

The main areas that are affected by expressive and static lines are as follows:

Glabella – Frown lines

The Glabella is the area between your brows. Over time, some may find that there is a deep line that becomes quite prominent. The use of botulinum toxin can not only relax the muscle to stop you overworking that area, it can also reduce the appearance of that static groove.

Forehead – horizontal line

Likewise, the forehead is an area that we tend to get both expressive and static lines. The use of botulinum toxin relaxes the area to stop over-expression.

Crows’ Feet – Corner of the eye

This is a concern many of our patients have. Many believe the eye (and lip) area to be the most obvious sites for ageing. Not all products can be used in this area, and it is always important to check that the injector administering treatment is highly-skilled when injecting around the eyes.

Bunny Lines – Top of the nose

Bunny lines are mostly evident when smiling. They form on the bridge of the nose, near the tear duct of the eye. If in doubt, picture a bunny scrunching up its nose. While it might not be an obvious area to treat, it can be a bugbear for those who do not like the way their smile appears in photos and so on.

Brow – Lifting of the brow area

Surgery is usually the last resort for patients. They wish to get great results all the same, but would rather not go under the knife, and that is completely understandable. So how do you get a brow lift without the scalpel? Botulinum toxin can be used as a non-surgical alternative by introducing the solution to key points, relaxing the muscles we use to frown, lifting the weight that we naturally want to push down.

Jawline – Non-surgical reshaping

If your masseter muscle is particularly robust, it can make your jawline rather square. If you desire a slimmer, heart-shaped jaw, botulinum toxin can be used to streamline the area. This is particularly favourable among women.

What is Botox?

Botox®, or botulinum toxin, is a purified protein that is used to temporarily relax facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. It can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

How many sessions will I need?

As the results are temporary, treatment is on going. Patients usually have treatment every 3-4 months.

Am I a suitable Candidate

Botox® can be used on a wide range of patients, and is primarily used for skin rejuvenation and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Who will perform the Treatment?

Emma Tonry-Webb who is a Harley Street Trained, fully licensed and accredited Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner. She is outstanding in her ability to create a subtle, natural look.

Is there any Downtime?

There is no real downtime associated with Botox, however, there can be some slight bruising afterwards that can be masked by makeup, and the patient may encounter some mild discomfort during the treatment. There are no long-term side-effects and patients can resume normal activity straight after treatment, and patients are able to fly as well. For best results, avoid massaging the area that has been treated and avoid exercising the area 2-4 hours after treatment.

FAQS

I have always sweated very badly but recently work has got very stressful and I seem to be getting worse. My wife read in a magazine that you can have botox injected into your underarm area to stop the sweating. Is this true?

Yes, what your wife read is true. Botulinum toxin type A, more commonly known as Botox, is a widely accepted treatment for excessive sweating in the underarm region, with good efficacy and minimal or no side effects. Botulinum toxin blocks the action of nerves supplying the sweat glands which then prevents the glands from producing sweat. Results last for six to eight months as new nerve endings grow to replace them, but the treatment can be repeated after that time.

How do I avoid a Frozen Face?

Less is more’ is the mantra of the modern day injectable cosmetic practitioner. It is not fashionable, nor desirable for most people, to want or have a ‘frozen’ face from botox, so, if you are treated by a cosmetic practitioner who follows the above mantra then you should not end up with one.
